Discover the German wingfoil brand Vayu at Rid'Air: Aura, Eos, and X Race wings, Pyro parawing, Fly and Edge boards. Get expert advice to choose the perfect size and model.

Even though we are primarily paragliding enthusiasts, at the workshop we observe the sky in all its forms. And for a few seasons now, it's been hard to ignore wingfoiling: it's gaining strong momentum on the water, it attracts free flight pilots seeking thrills when there's no wind, and it shares with us that same obsession with reading the wind well. That's why we've brought Vayu into the shop. On this page, I'll give you an overview of the brand and its range, no BS.

Who is Vayu?

Vayu is a German wingfoil brand based in Kiel, on the Baltic Sea — meaning they test their gear in unforgiving conditions. The name comes from the Hindu god of wind, and that perfectly sums up their philosophy: equipment designed by people who spend their time with their feet in the water and their eyes on the gusts. The range covers everything you need to ride: wings, a parawing, and boards.

The Wings

The core of the range. Vayu offers several families depending on what you're looking for:

  • Aura V4 — the ultimate all-rounder wing, covering the widest range of riders and water conditions. It's the model available in the most sizes and colors, from small, powerful rigs to large ones for light wind days.
  • Aura X-V3 ALUULA — the version built with ALUULA, an ultra-light and rigid fabric that enhances reactivity and leading edge stability. For those who want the cutting edge in high-end versatility.
  • Eos V3 — a wing focused on accessibility and enjoyment, with a wide choice of sizes and colors. A great entry point into the brand.
  • X Race V2 and X Race V1 — the race wings, designed for pure performance and upwind ability. For experienced riders.

The Pyro Parawing

The Pyro is the item that should appeal to paragliders: a parawing, meaning a soft wing without an inflatable leading edge, which inflates with the wind, is steered by lines, and can be packed very small. It's on the border between a wing and a mini-wing — a playground that naturally resonates with those from free flight. For downwind and exploration, it's a clever and unique piece of equipment.

The Boards

Regarding boards, Vayu offers two families. The Fly range (Fly, Fly Carbon, Fly Midlength) covers everything from beginners needing volume and stability to experienced riders wanting a responsive carbon board. The Edge range (Edge Prone, Edge Midlength, Edge Pump) targets more committed disciplines — prone, pump foil, midlength for downwind. Size selection is based on volume, according to your weight and skill level: this is exactly the kind of advice for which a call to the workshop is better than a chart.

Rid'Air's Take

What we appreciate about Vayu is its clear range: a versatile wing that covers most needs (the Aura), a high-end version for those who want the best (the ALUULA), an accessible entry point (the Eos), and clearly separated race wings to cater to different audiences. It's coherent, and it's gear made by people who genuinely ride.

As with paragliding, our approach remains the same: we don't push you towards the most expensive option. We guide you towards the size and model that match your weight, skill level, and spot. If you're new to wingfoiling, we'll tell you honestly — it's better to have a forgiving wing and board than a race set that will discourage you after three sessions.

Sizes, Colors, and Availability

Each wing is available in several surface areas (in square meters) and often multiple colors; boards are chosen by volume. Availability changes throughout the season. The simplest way is to call us or send an email: we'll tell you what's immediately available and what's coming, including sizes and colors.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Vayu brand come from?
Vayu is a German wingfoil brand based in Kiel, on the Baltic Sea coast. It designs wings, a parawing and boards, gear tested in demanding conditions.
Which Vayu wing should you choose as a beginner?
To get started, we'll steer you towards an all-round, forgiving wing like the Aura V4 or the Eos V3, in a large size suited to your weight and to lighter-wind days. The X Race models are race wings, best left to experienced pilots. The best thing is to call us to nail down the size.
What is the Pyro, Vayu's parawing?
The Pyro is a parawing: a soft wing with no inflatable strut, that you fill with the wind and steer on the lines, packable down very small. It sits between the wing and the mini-wing, ideal for downwind and exploration — a craft that will speak to pilots who come from paragliding.
How do I choose the size of my Vayu board?
A wingfoil board is chosen by volume (in litres) according to your weight and your level: more volume to start out and stabilise, less volume as you progress. The Fly range covers beginner to confirmed riders, the Edge range targets the more committed disciplines. Call us, we'll point you in the right direction.
Which sizes and colourways are available?
Each wing comes in several surface areas (m²) and often several colourways; boards come in several volumes. Stock changes over the course of the season: contact us to find out the exact availability of a given size and colourway.
Does Rid'Air advise on wingfoil too?
Yes. Even though paragliding remains our core business, we support riders in choosing their Vayu gear the way we always have: honest advice, geared towards what genuinely suits your weight, your level and your spot, never towards the most expensive option.
