Detailed description
STRAPLESS BI 4: The Tandem Harness That Weighs Next to Nothing
The STRAPLESS BI 4 is the tandem version of Advance's famous STRAPLESS mountain harness. Designed for minimalist tandem pilots who hike before they fly, it takes the hike & fly philosophy to the extreme: cutting out all superfluous elements to keep only the essentials.
We're talking about 420 g for size M, including the rescue container. At this weight, you won't feel the harness in your pack: it's equipment for mountain cross-country and committed hike & fly, not a flatland harness for leisurely soaring.
Target Audience and Use
- Experienced tandem pilots focused on hike & fly and committed mountain flying.
- High-altitude foot launches where every gram in your pack counts.
- Certification EN 1651:2018+A1:2020, max load 120 kg.
Let's be clear: this is a "string" type harness, without back protection. No foam, no airbag. This is the price to pay for such a featherlight weight, and it's a deliberate choice for specific mountain use. If you're new to tandem flying or primarily fly in flatlands, this is not the harness for you.
The Rescue System
The STRAPLESS BI 4 comes with a rescue handle and its internal container, located under the right thigh. Please note: it is not designed for steerable rescue parachutes. Folding and installing the rescue parachute is not something to improvise: it's exactly the kind of task we handle in our workshop.
