The AirDesign UFO is the wing that democratized single-surface technology. In this new version, it becomes even more accessible and high-performing. Designed for pure Hike & Fly and mountaineering, it appeals to both beginner pilots (EN-A certified in larger sizes) and experts seeking the lightest equipment in the world.
The major innovation in this version is the integration of Nitinol rods along the entire chord, allowing for ultra-compact folding without ever deforming the profile. Unlike the first generation, the "struts" (closed cells) have disappeared in favor of a more streamlined and stable internal structure. The leading edge is equipped with ground attachment loops, a crucial detail for securing the wing on steep or snowy slopes before takeoff.
In flight, the UFO surprises with its speed and maneuverability. Handling is intuitive, and pitch damping has been particularly refined to offer a maximum sense of security, even in thermal conditions. Its construction from Porcher Skytex 27 classic II with double coating ensures surprising longevity for a wing of this weight.
The UFO is a single-surface wing. Although it is very safe, its glide performance and landing behavior (flare) are different from a classic wing. We recommend loading the wing well to gain speed and penetration against the wind.
