Detailed description
For a paraglider pilot, a parawing is familiar territory: a flexible profile, a bridle system, and you fly by feel. The difference is that you hold it by a bar instead of the controls. Ozone states that they designed the Pocket Rocket V2 with input from their paragliding and foil kite departments. We haven't tried it ourselves yet, so we're relying on what the manufacturer publishes: a wing that packs into its backpack, without an inflatable leading edge, from 1.9 to 5.7 m², weighing from 440 to 795 g including the bar. For downwind and foil cruising, the idea is appealing. If you only do classic winging by the beach, save your money.

Ozone presents the Pocket Rocket V2 as a parawing accessible to everyone, from first-time learners to experienced pilots. New profile, reduced aspect ratio, and new bridle system: the wing aims to be more predictable, with a wider usable range and a delayed stall when flying downwind. A 5.7 m² size is introduced into the range for light wind days.
Technologies and Innovations
- Bow Bar: bar without a central leader line, shorter than on the V1, which allows hands to be placed freely and makes power delivery more progressive.
- Short bridle and central front riser: less effort in the hands, faster packing and redeployment.
- Coated bridle lines: hands slide along the front lines and packing is knot-free.
- Diagonal ribs and transverse shaping to distribute the load, improve upwind performance, and extend the low-end wind range.
- V-tabs on the trailing edge: less drag, distributed tension.
- Leading edge profile reinforcements and single-skin canopy made of coated double ripstop nylon.
Handling and Safety
Reduced aspect ratio, therefore shorter wingspan: according to Ozone, the wing reinflates faster after packing, handles more responsively, and its wingtips touch the water less. Like any wing, it is not subject to certification. Please note, the leash, waist belt, wrist strap, quick release, and harness line are optional: going downwind without a leash means risking finishing the ride by swimming. Also, consider your return before venturing far.
Who is it for, and what size?
For the foil pilot who wants a light and compact wing that packs into their backpack, and for those starting out with parawing. The 1.9 and 2.4 have 14 cells, while sizes from 3.0 to 5.7 have 18. The included bar measures 33 or 36 cm depending on the size (see table). Ozone publishes an indicative wind range per size, in graph form, established for an 80 kg pilot: we can detail it for you over the phone. Two colorways are published by Ozone, Carbon Grey/Orange/White and Light Blue/Carbon Grey/White, but not their correspondence with the manufacturer codes displayed in the selector: tell us the desired color, and we will confirm it with Ozone before shipping.
