Detailed description
The Ultralite family goes into speed mode. The Ultralite X is the fast version of the Ultralite 5 platform: a 34-cell mini-wing designed for pilots who love to feel the air rushing under the lines. Don't confuse it with the Ultralite 5, which remains its hiking-oriented big sister. Here, we're looking for speed and ground-hugging flight. Our take, without having flown it ourselves: it's a speed tool for pilots who already know what they're doing. If you're new to mini-wing flying, take your time and go up in size. And if you don't need it, save your money.

Ozone is releasing its Ultralite platform in a speed-oriented version. Same lightweight philosophy as the Ultralite 5, but with a profile and geometry designed for speed flying and proximity to terrain.
Construction and Range
- 34 cells across all four sizes: a compact and homogeneous mini-wing structure.
- Lightweight construction inherited from the Ultralite platform, for a wing weighing from 1.67 to 2.17 kg depending on the size.
- Four sizes, from 11 to 17 m², all within the same PTV range (55 to 90 kg): the size determines the wing loading.
Flight Behavior and Safety
The Ultralite X is a reactive speed wing that rewards precise piloting and punishes sloppiness. Like most speed-oriented mini-wings, it is uncertified: it is aimed at intermediate to advanced speed pilots, comfortable with high wing loading and a sustained pace. This is not a first wing. Progress safely, not too fast, not too slow.
Who is it for, and what size?
A point to understand before choosing: the PTV range is identical across all four sizes, from 55 to 90 kg. In mini-wing flying, you don't choose your size based on your weight like with a classic wing, but based on the desired wing loading. A loaded 11 flies fast and lively; a 17 is more forgiving, takes off more easily, and calms things down. At the same weight, you adjust the wing's character by going up or down in size.
