Design
For the Magnum 3, we started from a blank slate. A particularly refined internal structure allows for both weight reduction and extended wing lifespan, leading to reduced costs for professional pilots.
The aspect ratio has not been increased. Indeed, ease of use and passive safety are critical points for tandem wings, and we have accepted no compromise on comfort and safety. The performance gains of the Magnum 3 are due to a cleaner leading edge, a greater number of cells, and optimized line geometry (13% reduced drag), resulting in improved glide and sink rate.
Longevity
A new internal structure and an optimized combination of fabrics have resulted in a 700-gram reduction compared to the Magnum 2, without compromising strength. Increasing the wing's lifespan was a key requirement – this significantly reduces the cost per flight for professional pilots.
Take-off
A lighter wing immediately translates into improved take-off. Inflation in no-wind conditions – even with trimmers in the slow position – is extremely easy. When trimmers are in the slow position, they allow for take-off at lower speeds over a shorter distance, facilitating take-off, reducing the sink rate, and decreasing brake pressure for relaxed flights. In stronger winds, the Magnum 3 remains straightforward; the wing rises smoothly, without overshooting or hanging back.
In Flight
A new arc and tension straps have significantly improved handling; the wing is superbly balanced in flight. Parasitic roll has been eliminated, giving the sensation of gliding "on rails". As with all our latest generation wings, we have paid particular attention to achieving perfect roll and yaw coordination through precise and light brake control.
Landing
A good landing, with a clear and easy-to-achieve flare, was our major imperative. No particular technique is required: the Magnum 3 "unwinds like a spring" during the flare, increasing lift and stopping forward motion. Even with a novice passenger, even at maximum load and in imperfect conditions, the Mag3 remains easy to land.
