Comfort First

You'll spend hours in your harness. The seat, lumbar support, width, and depth must match your body type. When a client brings us their harness for a check-up, we systematically check three critical points that many pilots overlook: the condition of the protection foams (they compress over time and lose their absorption capacity), the attachment point stitching to the carabiners (wear from friction), and the proper functioning of the airbag (if equipped). A harness needs maintenance. We see 10-year-old harnesses with completely flattened protection foams — which is to say, no protection at all.

Weight, a Key Criterion

For hike-and-fly, every gram counts. Light harnesses weigh under 2 kg, compared to 5 to 8 kg for a full cocoon harness. Be aware that weight savings often mean less comfort and protection.
