Niviuk Jester

The Jester is Niviuk's first parakite: a wing designed for dune soaring, dynamic descents, and proximity flying, piloted via the risers thanks to the Parakite System (PKS). Five sizes from 14 to 24 m², three colors, EN 926-1 load test. Backpack optional.

Detailed description

The Jester is not just another paraglider in the range: it's Niviuk's first parakite, a wing flown with risers to play with the wind close to the terrain. It's designed for pilots who enjoy dune soaring, dynamic descents near the ground, and proximity flying, and who are willing to actively pilot from start to finish. If you're looking for a cross-country, progression, or distance flying wing, choose an EN-certified glider: that's not the Jester's playground. For size selection, call us or visit the workshop, and we'll review your weight, your site's wind conditions, and your skill level together.

A word from the manufacturer

Niviuk presents the Jester as its first parakite, designed based on its paragliding experience and the development of kite wings for third parties. The manufacturer describes it as fast, precise, and fun: flying with the risers automatically adjusts the angle of attack and keeps the wing stable, even at full speed. It's made for flying close to the ground by precisely adjusting its height, while maintaining control.

Technologies and innovations

  • PKS (Parakite System): risers that connect the brakes to a set of pulleys to modify the angle of attack. Hands up, the wing accelerates and dives. Hands down, it gradually slows down and gains altitude. In a neutral position, it achieves its maximum glide.
  • Reflex profile: a self-stabilizing profile, highly resistant to collapses.
  • Automatic cleaning: an internal system guides sand and impurities towards the wingtips, where they exit through dedicated openings, along a channel that runs the entire length of the trailing edge.
  • Integrated DRS: mini-ribs sewn directly into the trailing edge, for a cleaner profile without visible seams, and better protection against abrasion due to ground contact.
  • Nitinol rods: integrated into the leading edge and the rear-mid section of the profile to maintain a durable shape.
  • 3DL and 3DP: very precise profile cutting and assembly, for a wrinkle-free wing and reduced drag.
  • RAM Air Intake: constant internal pressure across the entire speed range, without pressure loss or profile deformation.

Flight behavior and safety

Control of the angle of attack is done via the risers: by raising your hands, the wing accelerates and releases brake pressure at the same time, making piloting dynamic and fluid. Niviuk describes a very fast wing, with precise turns, accessible and predictable behavior at low speeds, and progressive brake pressure for flaring. Designed to descend more than to glide, it maintains lift in a neutral position.

Good to know before ordering: the Jester has an EN 926-1 load test across all sizes. This is not an EN A, B, C, or D flight certification: no flight behavior class is published for this wing. The total flying weight (PTV) is limited to a maximum of 115 kg across all five sizes, and Niviuk does not publish a minimum. The manufacturer intends it for strong but steady winds, on clear slopes, with constant active piloting. Fly with appropriate equipment and read the Niviuk manual before the first flight.

For whom? And which size?

For the pilot who wants to play with the wind on dunes, coastal cliffs, and exposed slopes, without seeking distance performance. Five sizes from 14 to 24 m². As the maximum load is the same everywhere, it's not weight that differentiates the sizes upwards, but the wind you're aiming for and your skill level: according to Niviuk's size selection chart, for the same weight, the smaller the size, the higher the required skill level. The manufacturer also publishes a size, weight, and wind speed selection table in its downloadable documents. If in doubt, contact us before ordering.

Colors, accessories, and bag

Three standard colors: Belo, Pacific, and Brick. Niviuk also offers, at an additional cost, to customize colors and add logos: contact us for this type of order. Included with the wing are: an inner bag, compression straps, a riser pouch, and a repair kit. The backpack is not included: Niviuk recommends the Expe 45 for sizes 14 and 16, and the Expe 80 for sizes 18, 21, and 24.

Wing weight may vary by 2% depending on the fabric weight supplied. EN 926-1 corresponds to the load test, not an EN A to D flight class. Minimum PTV: not communicated by Niviuk.
